Is my Josefina Pre-mattel

I got my Josefina in 1997. Does that mean she is pre-mattel??

I think so, but I'm not an expert. Does Josefina have a body tag? If she doesn't, she's PM. Does Josefina have soft eyelashes? If she does, she's PM.

nope there is no body tag. i guess her eye lashess are soft

Given that you bought her in 1997, and Mattel didn't take over the company until 1998, I'd say she's pre-Mattel. [img]wink.gif[/img]

Of course, my daughter got hers in 1999, a year AFTER the company was sold, and hers is pre-Mattel, too! Just got lucky, I guess! [img]smile.gif[/img]

Pre-Mattel Josefina's don't actually have the soft eyelashes. They don't have the current stiff ones either, they're kind of in between. PM Josies are worth more in theory, but so few people can tell the difference that I don't think they go for much more. If you get Marisol or Nellie or Elizabeth, you can compare them, and you'll see the difference in the cheekbones and chin.
